Then, there are the other journalists of the Newsreel: Alex, also called New Guy, an overly optimistic man, whose good nature is often put to the test; Simona, an artist and photographer, who dreams of presenting her work in an art gallery; Elodie, a hopeless romantic, who falls head over heels in love with Adam and nearly destroys The Newsreel, and Steph, a very promising writer, who gets a job offer from Adam that will change the news site’s course of history and her relationship with her best friend, Elodie.
With the use of humor, our goal is to talk about the challenges of journalism and the deep impact our jobs can have on our lives. The Newsreel is not only an office comedy, but an observation on how Canadians view pop culture and their cultural identity.

Reaching our audience
We recently formed a partnership with MSOPA, a theater community in Montreal with over 1,000 members composed of former and current students, and film industry professionals who worked with MSOPA founder, Josa Maule. We recently began advertising on MSOPA’s Facebook page and inviting students to assist our production team in putting together a demo.
With the help of consultants and collaborators, we also hope to present some of our episodes in public venues in Montreal and submit them to festivals.
We filmed a first trailer that was released on our YouTube channel, but once we complete the development phase, we will begin the process of looking for digital distributors.
